Page Size

I am using the Pagemaker 6.5 - and I have a document prepared that is in landscape format 11x8.5 inches. When I convert the pagemaker to PDF it first converts to PS and then I distill it to PDF. It converts properly to PDF but the document is now in A4 size 8.5x11 inches, and this format causes some part of the document cut-off.. Please help to find out "HOW TO CHANGES THE PAGE SIZE OF THE PDF".

When you are printing to the postscript file, you need to be sure the page size on the paper button in the print dialog is set to letter and not A4. Once you do that, when you distill it should still be letter size.

I do not believe that distiller overrides page sizes in its job options.

Ha! I'm amused as we spend hours doing the same thing but the other way round - making sure the output is A4! It's quite frequent that a desktop or network printer will demand that "letter" paper is loaded because something somewhere is not A4. (BTW, is Letter the same as 8½"×11"? I've no idea.)

It can be a mammoth job tracking it down - checking the system locale is correct (UK for us) and trawling through printer driver properties in the Control Panel and applications' print menus to ensure everything is A4.

So are you using PM's Export… AdobePDF… or manually creating a PS file and then running it through Distiller?

And which version of Distiller?

I think the job options of later versions of Distiler have a default page size. If it's set to A4 (210mm×297mm), then this could be the cause. However the default setting is 8½"×11", not A4, and as Stan says Distiller usually accepts the page size defined in the PS file.
